Aviation Maintenance Program Training
The Role of the Maintenance Program and the Importance of Aviation Maintenance Program Training.
The Maintenance Program is a mandatory, airline customised and owned document, which is approved by the relevant regulatory authority.
The customisation of this document (which is where savings may be generated) is often neglected because of the perceived difficulty associated with reviewing and packaging of maintenance tasks.
Airlines which develop an optimised program which exactly meets the needs of the airline benefit from a Maintenance Management Process which can reduce unnecessary expenditure and even result in less down time and more effective in service performance.
The Airline Maintenance Program owes its origins to a core document which is supplied by the Aircraft Manufacturer or Type Certificate Holder known as the Maintenance Planning Document. (often this document is not specifically tailored to the needs of the operator and as such may be more generic in nature. This document is developed through a process known as MSG3 analysis by a committee known as the Maintenance Review Board or MRB.
It is a mandatory requirement for the MRB to be in receipt of Continuing Airworthiness Information from the customer airlines and to consider and act on this information. This results in periodic updates
It is a mandatory requirement for the Airline Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation CAMO to meet on a regular basis to ensure that the Airline Maintenance Program has been assessed as current and compliant with all additional and updated regulatory requirements. . Once a Maintenance program has been approved by the Regulatory Authority, the Airline is not automatically obliged to act on each update but may consider the appropriateness of each development in the light of its own operational needs
Aviation Maintenance Program Training allows customer Airlines to understand the process whereby they can optimise the effectiveness of the maintenance Program to deliver effective savings.
Understand the role of Reliability together with efficient management of the Maintenance Program allows an airline to customise the Maintenance program to specifically meet the needs of the airline by developing an understanding which allows the airline to take decisions, which with the permission of the Competent authority can result in meaning full savings in Maintenance expenditure with out compromising the effectiveness of the Maintenance.
Many airlines finish up without the necessary competence, which with effective Aviation Maintenance Program Training can easily be redressed, the cost of such training is minimal when compared with what can be saved in maintenance expenditure.
