Intensive Aviation English Level 4 Course
Intensive Aviation English is a course in English language communication skills for pilots and air traffic controllers, helping participants to achieve and maintain a Level 4 according to the ICAO English language proficiency requirements.
Inadequate language proficiency has played a role in accidents and incidents and led to a review of ICAO language requirements and Amendment 164 to Annex 1 of ICAO’s English language proficiency’s requirements on language proficiency became applicable on 27 November 2003.
In 1998 the ICAO Council was urged to consider, with a high level of priority ensuring that air traffic control personnel and flight crews involved in international flight operations are proficient in conducting and comprehending radiotelephony communications in the English language.
The English language proficiency’s requirement states that holders of an air traffic controller license shall demonstrate the ability to speak and understand the language used for radiotelephony communications. The way in which the ability is demonstrated is determined by the Licensing Authority of each ICAO Contracting State.
Those who demonstrate language proficiency below the Expert Level (Level 6) will be formally re-evaluated at intervals of six years for those at the Extended Level (Level 5) and two/three years for those at the Operational Level (Level 4).
All pilots shall meet the language proficiency requirements when they fly internationally.
Proficient speakers must be able to communicate effectively in voice and in face-to-face situations. They shall communicate clearly on common, work-related topics, exchange messages, resolve misunderstandings in a work-related context. They should also be able to handle successfully an eventual unexpected turn of events in their routine work, as well as using a dialect or accent which is intelligible to the aeronautical community.
We have established a team of highly qualified and experienced professionals to deliver the training to help the above mentioned comply with the ICAO’s English language proficiency requirements.
